Idie Si is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Denver. She majors in International Studies with a concentration in international organizations and laws. To understand the factors that determine the direction of international politics, Idie also studies History and Economics. Her academic interest revolves around refugees and internally-displaced persons in Asia, particularly in Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. She has also done extensive research on the work of the United Nations, including UN response to the Asian tsunami, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ role in resettling Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong. In addition to her interest in international politics, Idie has also been actively involved in promoting diversity at the University of Denver through her leadership at the International Student Organization. She also interned at the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center to assist tortured refugees, mostly from Africa, to seek a new life in the Denver area. Having spent the first eighteen years of her life in Hong Kong, Idie aspires to return to the beloved city one day to embark on a career in public service. In her free time, Idie enjoys watching soccer games, swimming, and going to the movies.
